I have a few pieces of these old walnut blocks left. They look fantastic when they're polished up, but the wood is really hard and whatever I do, it takes ages.
These desktop weather stations were teased out of this kind of wood block -
I decided to try out a compound cut from the top. My table saw is just about up to the job, but it really wasnt happy making such a deep cut.
Just a few burn marks, but they'll polish out and you can start to see the walnut grain coming through.
